Obituary for Martin R. Kessman

Kessman, Martin R., age 76, a lifelong resident of Patterson, New York, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Kessman was born May 3, 1937 in Yonkers, New York to Milton E. and Beatrice (Avins) Kessman. He attended both Wake Forest University
in Winston-Salem, NC and the University of Houston, Houston, TX.

Mr. Kessman married Carol Mitchell on October 25, 1960 in Patterson.

Mr. Kessman was a sweet corn farmer with Kessman’s Bros. Farms in Patterson all his life. Through the years, Martin and Carol enjoyed traveling and their homes in both Boynton Beach, FL and Grant, FL.

Mr. Kessman was a past assistant chief and life member of the Patterson Fire Department and a member of the Sebastian, FL ELKS Lodge #2714.
It was his family that brought him his greatest joy.

Besides his wife Carol of 53 years, he is survived by two sons,
Paul A. Kessman and his wife Margaret of Patterson and Stephen D. Kessman and his wife Rebecca of Patterson; his brother, Bernard Kessman of Sherman, CT; his four grandchildren, Jennifer, Eli, Caleb and Cailin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Albert and three grandsons, Douglas Milton Kessman, Gale Everett Kessman and Richard Joseph Kessman.

A graveside ceremony will be held Monday, April 7, 2014 12:00 Noon at Quaker Hill Cemetery, Pawling, NY. Friends may call at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, NY on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. www.dwyerfuneralhome.com
