Montuori, Claudia, age 88, of Patterson, NY, died April 12, 2013 at Salem Hills Rehabilitation center.

Claudia was born on April 7, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter to the late Pietro and Anita (Centi) Montuori. She graduated from Lafayette High School and continued her education at Hunter College in Manhattan, NY.

Ms. Montuori was a business teacher at the Carmel Central School district for 26 years before retiring in 1991. She was also a part time office clerk in the Carmel and Mahopac Recreation Department.

Claudia was member of St. John’s Church in Pawling, NY. She was also in the choir, a Eucharistic minister, lecturer and catechist. She was a past president of Sons of Italy in Carmel, NY and a past president for two terms for the retired teachers association in Putnam County. The language National Honor society Italian Division of Carmel School is named after Claudia.

Claudia is survived by her three nephews; John Canale, Mark Canale and Richard Calabrese and her three nieces; Julia Calabrese- Harrer, Pamela Halk and Lydia Valvano. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Canale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday April 15, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. John’s Church, Pawling, NY. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Queens, NY. Friends may call at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, NY on Monday from 1pm-3pm and 5pm-7pm.
