Life Story for Paul C. Maass

Paul C.  Maass
Paul C. Maass, of Patterson, NY, died Monday, March 1, 2016 at James J. Peters VA Medical Center, Bronx, NY. He was 69 years old.

Mr. Maass was born on September 8, 1946 in Catskill, NY, son of Shirley Requa of South Paris, ME and the late Paul D. Maass. Paul graduated from Highland Springs High School, Highland Springs, VA, in 1964. Following high school he honorably served in the US Coast Guard from 1964-1968.

On December 2, 1979 he married Lois Christman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, NY.

Paul was a senior security officer with Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY for 10 years before retiring in 2008. He was the chaplain of the Patterson Fire Department and a Patterson Fire Department Fire Police. Paul was former member of the Carmel ambulance and the Kent volunteer Fire Department. He was a pack master and Den leader of troop 14 in Kent. Paul was a musician of all sorts, he enjoyed playing the sax, bass guitar, harmonica and banjo. A great past time of his over the last 6 years was The Bean Blossom Blues Festival in Indiana.


Mr. Maass is survived by his loving wife Lois and mother Shirley, his 4 children; Paul D. Maass and his wife Melissa of Warwick, NY, Angela Maass of Brewster, NY, Emmalyn Collins and her husband Matthew of Leland, NC and Meredith Maass of Patterson, NY; 2 granddaughters Harper Ettere and Ella Collins. Also his 3 siblings; Bruce Maass of Ferrum, VA, Michele Gonsalves of Norway, ME and Bonnie Maass of Lewiston, ME.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10AM at Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson. Interment will follow at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Patterson, NY. Visitation will be on Sunday March 6, 2016 from 2-6pm at the funeral home.

Contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society - Putnam County Unit, 220 Route 6, Mahopac, NY, 10541 and/or James J. Peters VA Medical Center, 130 West Kings Bridge Rd, Bronx, NY 10468. If family or friends wish to send flowers the family is asking that they be sent to the VA Hospital, Bronx, NY.
