Life Story for Betty J Akin (Dodge)


Betty J Akin, age 80, of Pawling, NY, died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her home.

Mrs. Akin was born December 21, 1935 in Malone, New York to Everett and Gladys (Arnold) Dodge. She graduated from schools in Malone, New York.

Mrs. Akin married David A. Akin on October 24, 2010 in Pawling, New York. She was first married to Orville Langlois and later to Net Brevi.

Mrs. Akin worked as a medical records Clerk for Harlem Valley Hospital in Wingdale, New York for 15 years retiring in 1987.

Betty was a singer of Old Time Country Music....she and her husband David played guitar and sang together at many different events. She enjoyed outdoor work... many an hour haying with her husband Dave. Betty enjoyed her many visits to the Putnam Diner in Patterson New York where she had many friends and will be remembered fondly. She loved her dog Carter and many farm animals. Through the years she enjoyed cooking, travel and camping as well. Betty was a member of the American Folk Musicians Association and a lifetime member of the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club.

It was her family that brought her the greatest joy, whether preparing meals to share or celebrating a special occasion, Betty was happiest when her family surrounded her.

Besides her husband David, of close to six years, Betty is survived by three daughters, Deborah Setaro and her husband Michael of Millbrook, New York, Susan Davis and her husband Paul of Dover Plains, New York, Aleatha Smalley and her husband John of Dover Plains, New York; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter Linda Rozell on May 21, 2007.

A Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 10 a.m. at Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, New York. Interment will follow at Maple Avenue Cemetery Patterson, NY. Friends may call at the Dwyer Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3p.m. to 7p.m. www.dwyerfuneralhome.com
