Elinor V. Slocum, of sharon, CT, formerly of Pawling , NY, died peacefully Saturday July 16, 2016 at Sharon Health Care Center with her family by her side. She was 92 years old.
Elinor was born on October 29, 1923 in Danbury,CT, daughter to the late Earle and Lillian (Horton) Ballard. She married Louie G. Slocum on January 18, 1942. He predeceased her on January 8, 1985.
Elinor lived in Pawling her entire life and was a member of the Central Baptist Church, her religion got her through the tough times in life. She was an animal lover especially cats! Elinor loved to cook and enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family.
Mrs. Slocum is survived by her daughters; Bonnie Mead, Shirley Alexander and June Mead, her siblings Vernon Ballard and Myra Kunis and over 50 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Judy Vassick.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 20, 2016 at 12pm at Dwyer Funeral Home , Patterson, NY. Interment will follow at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Patterson, NY. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10am.
