Ethel G. Leight, age 91, a longtime resident of Holmes, NY, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Holmes, NY.

Ethel was born on August 31, 1921 in Bennington, Vermont. Daughter of the late Frank and Fannie (Wallen) Barber. She attended schools in Vermont.

Ethel married William Judson Leight on January 19, 1946 in Ludingtonville, NY. William died March 15, 1994.

Ethel was a dog breeder, breeding shepherds and later poodles. She was also an avid ice skater and swimmer.

Ethel is survived by her two children; Patricia Palmiero of Middletown, NY and Carol Traver of Hyde Park, NY; a brother, Rev. Edward Barber and his wife Natalie of Green Valley, AZ and 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 2:00 PM at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Route 311, Patterson, NY.
