MERYLE PARASKEVA- age 85 of- Stormville, NY, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Putnam Hospital Center. Born August 12, 1925 in Glasgow, Scotland to the late Thomas and Martha Crawford. She immigrated to the United States with her parents when she was two. Growing up in the Bronx, she met and married the love of her life, Constantine [Connie] Paraskeva on June 6, 1946 at Beck Memorial Church in the Bronx. Connie predeceased her December 12, 1982.
Together they owned and operated Connie’s Grocery and Hardware Store from 1961 to 1980 which was located on top of Stormville Mountain. Meryle was past president of the Daniel J. O’Brien VFW #1374 Ladies Auxiliary. She was also President of the Patterson Golden Agers from 1985-2008.
Meryle is survived by her daughter, Linda [Frederick] Booth, of Holmes, NY. Four sons, John [Lynn], of Stormville, NY. Robert [Linda], of Fultonville, NY. Timothy and George, of Stormville, NY.
Seven grandchildren-Jason [Catherine] Paraskeva, of Stormville, NY. Robert [Jessica] Paraskeva, of Fonda, NY. Patricia [Bruce] Gardner, of Johnstown, NY. April [Todd] Moran, of Fultonville, NY. Christopher Booth, of Tampa, FL. Jonathan and Amanda Booth, of Holmes, NY. Six Great grandchildren, Bruce, Jr., Ashley, Chase, Kaitlyn, Andrew, and Abigail. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and James Crawford.
Family may receive friends on April 29, 2011 between the hours of 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Dwyer Funeral Home 23 South Street Patterson, NY, 12563 (845)-878-3161 , Interment will be private.
